Sutton Graduation Cap Decorating Guidelines
Some students may opt to decorate their graduation caps. This is not a requirement. Blank caps are perfectly acceptable. Should you decide to decorate your cap, please follow the guidelines below.
Some cap decorating ideas to consider include:
Students are encouraged to trace caps onto cardboard and decorate the 8.5 inch by 8.5 inch square cardboard. In case you make a mistake you can start over with a new piece of cardboard. After you decorate it, stick it to your cap with double sided tape and/or Velcro.
STUDENTS SHOULD SUBMIT A PHOTO OF THEIR DECORATED CAP FOR APPROVAL BY MONDAY, MAY 31ST BY 2:00 PM. STUDENTS CAN EMAIL PHOTOS TO MR. MCCARTHY at [email protected].
- Designs cannot exceed 1 inch in height
- Designs cannot contain any advertisement, symbols, abbreviations, initials, words, slogans, patches, or pictures that refer to drugs or controlled substances, tobacco, alcohol, weapons, anything of a sexual nature
- No negative references to other students, faculty/staff, or the school are permissible
- No fundamental aspects of the cap can be altered (ex. No cutting, tearing, ripping, or bending any portion of the cap and nothing can be hanging from the side)
- Cannot make noise or light up. No bells, horns, or anything that makes noise
Some cap decorating ideas to consider include:
- Inspirational quotes
- Thank a parent, grandparent, teacher, friend
- Your graduation year
- Future plans (college you are attending or branch of the military)
